Vacationing this time of the year for a Venezuelan means one thing: time to change the routine and go look for new adventures! In case you didn’t know, us Venezuelans tend to be really familiar; so, since kids are off to school and free from its responsibilities for a while, we try to make a plan that will keep us entertained through the entire season.
For example: going to the beach! Fortunately, our country counts with a large variety of beaches from side to side. We can choose whether to visit the ones close to our location, or take the opportunity to explore the unknown ones. The options are countless. From Margarita, to Aragua, La Guaira or Oriente, there are different type of beaches that we can choose from. The idea is to plan it from morning till dawn. Some prefer to go and practice their favorite sport like: surfing, diving, fishing, sailing … While others are just looking forward to enjoy a good time under the rico y caliente sol, and if it’s next to the ones you love, it will always get better.
It’s a tradition, you gather a bunch of family members and friends, choose the place, pack your bags and hit the road. The fun part of choosing a place you don’t know, is that you get to explore a whole new set of things: culture, traditional foods, festivities, incredible places and gente maravillosa. No matter where you go, you’ll always be well received. And as big plus, you’ll find the most unique sabores caribeños in every corner. So, imagine this: waking up to the sun, diving into crystalline salty water, digging your feet on the sand, while laughing and sharing with the ones that matter. ¡No tiene precio!
But hey, this is not all! There’re some who prefer a different kind of vacation. Like going for a mountain environment. The number one option in this case: Mérida. This city offers a fresh and delicious cold weather, snowy mountains, and it’s the home of the highest and second longest cable car in the world. And there’s more, you can tour around its small pueblos and discover all the stories hidden in its streets and traditions.
And what if we’re feeling a bit more aventurero?
Well, we can visit “El Parque Nacional Canaima”. This is 30,000 km2 park (the second largest park in the country) is located at the Bolivar state and it reaches the borders with Brazil and Guayana. What to do here? In case you didn’t know, this happens to be the magical place that keeps the Salto Ángel (Angel Falls), the largest waterfall in the world. Around this place you’ll be able to get in touch with the wonders of nature at a unique tropical forest.
Yes, we luckily have it all! Desserts, tropical forest, snow and the most beautiful beaches around the world. And it doesn’t matter where we decide to go to spend the verano, as long as we get to share it with the ones we love. That’s the true tradition! Being able to construct new memories, create new stories and live new experiences surrounded by the people you chose to share your arepas with every morning.
